Re: Oolite Website Domain & Fixing the Expansions Manager

Slight issue in the website: The news item from April 10 on the right hand side of the page which announces the new nightly builds points to https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite/releases/tag/latest. This link is now void, as it has not been updated since October 15th. I think the news item should...

Re: Dev version 1.91 upper right corner data splat

There are three nightly versions listed. A Development version (-dev), a Test version (-test), and another with neither of these appendages to its name. What does this third one do? My guess is that it does not have any of the Development tools (Console, etc.) included and does not have the waterma...

Re: Dev version 1.91 upper right corner data splat

Yes, download the file OoliteInstall-1.91.0.7563-231127-1893367-win-test.exe and install that instead of the equivalent file ending with -win-dev.exe.

The two versions are exactly the same, their only difference being the watermark in the -dev.exe version.

hiran wrote: Sun Nov 26, 2023 8:02 pm For quite some time I thought having Oolite log it's command line on startup might be a good idea for troubleshooting based on the logfile.
Would that be a big change in the code?
Seems quite straightforward. The build containing this is currently cooking.

Re: Struggling with keys to access all the stuff I need to use

HDR output mode is enabled only when explicitly requested at launch via the command line. Launching the game normally creates standard 8 bpc backbuffer as it always has been the case. IMO the issue is that the gfx card is just too old to support the requirements of the new renderer. My initial sugge...

Re: Screenshot not allowed on Long Range Chart?!

phkb's fix works fine, but since this is an issue that could potentially reoccur in the future if we ever add more alphanumeric text entry screens, I think a better fix would be - ![gameView allowingStringInput] && // not while entering text on the keyboard config screens <--------- buggy + ...

Re: Accessibility

A new accessibility feature to further assist people with colorblindness is scheduled to be pushed to master soon. This will change the shape of hostile ships' scanner blips from a square to an X when playing in any of the three colorblind modes. This way it will be even easier to pick enemies on th...

Re: (Demo) Black Holes

It's not actually hard to exclude the hud from the effect, but I realized that there is another problem: any ship or station positioned in front of the black hole while the effect is active, will be distorted. I don't think that should be the case; only the starfield background should be (I think). ...

Re: (Demo) Black Holes

As an extra FYI, the current oolite-final fragment shader contains some test code for generating a gravitational lens effect, which would fit nicely with black holes. It is not readily accessible because it also affects the hud, but it's there if you want to have a play with it. You can activate it ...

@Mauiby: Now that I got some time to sit down and think a bit, here are some comments and advice on your endeavor. First of all, thanks for doing this. Knowing what a colossal amount of work it is, I was never going to feel ready to take on the task myself for one more time. What you are doing now i...

Re: Screenshots

Hmmm. Would it not be nice if you could pause the game and still switch views to find the best screenshot? Or does that feature exist but I do not know about it? It exists. Go to any external view, press Caps Lock and use roll/pitch/yaw to rotate the camera. PgUp/PgDown zooms in and out And, just t...

Re: Screenshots

A minor upgrade to the Tianve pulsar fx. It is now brighter and a blue color emitter.

And here is the updated Tianve v2.2 effectdata.plist that makes this possible.
