Re: plot long range course - possible?

A lot of people have requested waypoints and "avoid this system" on the route planner over the years, I'm guessing it's a non-trivial problem.

Re: Fastest way to buy a Boa/Boa CC?

There are cheaper OXP alternatives to the Python that give you enough cargo space to start making money. I particularly recommend the D.T.T. Planet Express ship, which costs CR 100,000 - it only takes 30 tons of cargo but that's just enough to start earning real money, and has the advantage of being...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Not sure this one counts The Wizard of Karres (2004) by Eric Flint, Dave Freer and Mercedes Lackey, a sequel to The Witches of Karres by James H. Schmitz which uses a lot of the elements of Schmitz's characterization etc., but Schmitz himself wasn't involved in writing it, being somewhat dead at the...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Wow - that was fast. The Forge of God by Greg Bear. - definitely, since the destruction of the Earth drives the plot. Hitch-Hiker's Guide - yes again, you can't get much more destroyed than total obliteration to make way for a hyperspace bypass (even if later books bottled out and restored the statu...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Sorry, only just saw this. Let's see... Let's have five SF works (all media types) about the end of the world - by which I mean its complete destruction by one means or another, no half-measures, or at a minimum the complete eradication of life. All must be from different fandoms (e.g. no giving the...

Re: (WIP) GalCop's Most wanted

This probably isn't one I'd want to run myself, I tend to go for big ship trading rather than a combat-orientated game, but it occurs to me that it would be useful to sort the most-wanted list in order of distance from current location - I can see you show the distance, can't tell if sorting by it i...

Added myself and zoomed out to show the whole world, which I think makes the most sense.

Brockian Ultra-Cricket "Brockian Ultra-Cricket is a curious game which involves suddenly hitting people for no readily apparent reason and then running away. "Let's be blunt, it's a nasty game," says The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Mice love this game." https://hitchhikers.fandom.com/wiki/Broc...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Actually I wasn't offering the "Indiana Jones in Star Wars" thing as an entry because I only know about it because I looked up the "Star Wars in Indiana Jones" thing, and assumed that it would be excluded by the rules. Also it looks like I read it wrong - it's in The Empire Strikes Back, not A New H...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Well, another obvious one is Aliens Vs Predator - film, game, etc. later = re the Indiana Jones thing, just looked this up, and apparently there are also Easter eggs for the Indiana Jones films in Star Wars - for example, the box used for the Ark of the Covenant is in the trash compactor in A New Ho...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

OK, the big one in comics is the Amalgam-verse , an official crossover between the DC and Marvel universes in which characters are fusions with characteristics of equivalents in both universes. e.g. Doctor Strangefate (Strange + Fate), and Super-Soldier (a Superman/Captain America cross). And Star T...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

William Gibson's short story "The Gernsback Continuum", set in the 1980s, features a professional photographer who is given an assignment to take pictures of "futuristic" architecture from the 1930s. Pursuing these faded examples of "raygun gothic", the photographer starts to hallucinate scenes fro...
