I think it’s a bug in the Oolite code which I came across while working on the new keyboard config setup. I need to do some more analysis on how to correct it, though.

Those screenshots would suggest you don’t have Glare Clarifier installed. Can you post a copy of your latest.log file so I can check if anything else is conflicting?

Can I get you to try something? When you next encounter the issue, press and release each of the shift, control and alt keys, one at a time (not altogether). Then see if the issue has cleared up.

OK, try this: NoFlare.oxz. In combination with Glare Clarifier, you should get rid of most of the glare/flare effects you've highlighted.

Have you installed the Glare Clarifier OXZ? That removes the sun glare completely on a global level.

It's not. But the suggested tweak is being applied to a particular ship, so if your ship data key is different to the one in the example, the tweak won't be applied and you won't see any difference in game.
