Re: Science Fiction Trivia

The association with a philosopher suggests "The World of Null-A" (ie A as in Aristotle), by A. E. van Vogt.[...] Correct, the trilogy name could be shortened to Null-A, there were three books, "The Word of Null-A" (you mentioned), "The Pawns of Null-A", and "Null-A Three". My next hint would've be...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Umf … well, that exhausts my knowledge about Solarians. Unless the main character has some sort of telekinetic power? You've made some small steps for one man, big D, hopefully there'll be the big leap from the audience. Hint #3: the trilogy name has some association with an ancient Greek philosoph...

From hint #1, is the main character very antisocial, and/or a hermaphrodite?
Neither.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Whew, was hint #1 maybe too subtle?

Hint #2: most fans dismiss the third volume, it seems critics also thrashed it, and it's been released 40 years after publishing the first volume.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

No attempt?

Ok, hint #1 (quite subtle, I'd say): the main character has something in common with the late Solarian inhabitants as presented in "Foundation and Earth" by Asimov.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Will interrupt the 5 item lists for this one.

The author and the trilogy name, where the main character starts as a game player, and ends as a ruler over two galaxies.

Re: Forum update

Well, a quick google for "phpBB themes", puts the first link (for me), as this . You can preview a bunch of themes/styles for the forum, if you select Styles Demo for phpBB link in that page. The default one (we have here) seems to be called "prosilver". ... And it turns that there is a downloadable...

Re: Forum update

Really not a fan of the new look. I can hear you, a bit too "boxy" when compared with the old look. ... And there are things to get used with -- e.g. "Active topics" hidden under "Quick links". There are good things too, though, the first I was happy with being the way "Show your posts" are display...

As for Anonymous, that's how it's listed in the Admin logs. That probably means it was an auto-update.
Oh, if by Admin logs you mean the forum Admin logs, then it could be because the user doing the update is not registered as a forum user (which is to be expected).

We seem to have had an anonymous php/database update. Different, certainly!
Please let me enjoy my first quote showing a name at the top of the box :)
I sincerely hope that by "anonymous update" you mean unannounced, and not like in "done by Anonymous" (as in the organization)

Looks good here too. One thing I noticed, it's switching Aero off in Win 7 / 64bit (extremely annoying) Didn't encounter the issue Cody reported For the record, the log: Opening log for Oolite version 1.89 (x86-64 test release) under Windows 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 64-bit at 2019-03-13 14:41:56 -040...

<taps the microphone: is this think on?> Is there a timeout on this thread? Maybe a three strike straight asks? Let me start this miserable task: RockDoctor, it's your turn since quite some posts back! P.S.: Should be ok if you needed more time to brew the next question, but, please, let us know, a...
