For the Vipers specifically, I thought that their looks with a normal map only were spot on. In my mind, police vessels should look clean and in pristine condition. So just a normal map and global gloss at the default value were good enough to represent the material I had in mind. Good point Admira...

You got a great design but you got no idea about weaponry or background story ?
Try https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Page for some inspiration. While the ship dimensions are most of the time way to high for Oolite Star Wars still could be a goldmine for background stories or even new designs.

I always was wondering why the default-ships lack normal maps, most of Griffs maps could be used and gsagostinhos additions include them as well. In my personal opinion, they just are looking too polished.
