Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes

I'm hoping Substance Painter is going to really drastically speed up the texturing, with a bit of time i'm hoping that i'll eventually build up a 'library' of various types of surface that can then just be dropped onto sections of the model and have substance painter generate the various colour and ...

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes

I'm pretty sure with the new pbr code in oolite we'll be able to give it a proper chrome surface now too (might be slightly blue though if i can't fix my bugs)

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes

yep will definitely work to make this as easily modifiable as possible, there's some amazing paint scheme designers an artists here i'm hoping will be able to work their magic on it. I've been tinkering on bringing the new lighting code from Oolite into the shader i was using for the 'normal mapped ...

Re: Retro, Commander …

I'm really enjoying Drew's 'Elite Dangerous' Lore Tour, been following along a day or two later when Drew posts the videos up to his YouTube channel, last weeks episode featured and interview with Selezen (Dave Hughes) and there was some Oolite chat and even an in-game appearance!

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes

Apologies a bit of a blog post, I've made a start turning the 'alternative cobra III' ship i made a while back into a medium-high poly version, just done the back and the side of the ship at the moment, have managed to make lots of polygon tangles that will need sorting out as usual. I've never atte...

Re: Retro, Commander …

Thanks for posting about this Disembodied it's always great hearing Drew talk about Elite, those 'First Encounters' games looked a lot better than i remembered at the time, maybe they just run a lot faster emulated on modern computers or something. I hadn't realised that they'd programed lighting bo...

Re: Test Win64 executable - 16bpcc

Happy to report Oolite ran fine, no frame drops or anything, I don't think my 460GTS video card could quite manage enough bits as there was some banding on the planets but game still looks amazing anyway! Opening log for Oolite version 1.89 (x86-64 test release) under Windows 10.0.17763.379 64-bit a...

Re: Elite: Dangerous - and the return

I've got stuck in a loop with EliteD, in that I don't play it often so I try an re-learn the keys by playing through the training missions writing down what keys do what on a bit of paper , then give up when i get to the combat one where they introduce missiles- it's just too hard and for me and tak...

Re: Screenshots

Smashing screenshots, love that there's colour back in the atmosphere effects in the latest screenshots, not sure if it's randomly generated but the last few pages of screenshots seems to be mostly white atmospheres, I prefer the colour ones :)

Re: star trek ships?

It can be very daunting getting your first ship in game but it really is a lot of fun once you getting it working, for placing lasers etc i found loading the object into wings3d and placing a vertex at the point where you want the laser/turret/subentity to be placed and making a note of the vertex c...
