@ C.H. and Dr. Nil: no idea whay you were thinking of, perhaps I am too harmless  and BTW no native English speaker and living far away from the anglo-american culture, so certainly I'm going to miss something in the subtext of a word every now and then. I was just thinking of "Reuter's", whic...

Thanks, Dr. Nil. I'll give it a try. Will the "spawnShip: " go with the ship's role or with its name? I guess I'll find the answer in the wiki or just try. What I'm more concerned about right now is LittleBear's information from that thread concerning the positions of planet and sun and their change...

Thanks, Dr. Nil! So I was just stupid!

Anyway, I uploaded it now. So we only have to wait for Winston.

"And I beheld a pale Commander; Commanding a pale ship: And of Him that Commanded the Ship; His name was Death; And Hell Followed with Him." Ooh yeah. Good stuff :D Yes, good stuff, as most of the stuff from that origin. I hope you realize that the original quotation is from the Bible: Rev. ...

Another two questions: 1) I have placed my Research-Station behind the sun as seen from the planet by using the psm system (coordinates 0 0 1000530), which means that the z-axis runs from the planet to the sun. Now IIRC the docking bay is placed along the z-axis, isn't it? So it should be in line wi...

External Views.oxp

There were some questions in the Discussions-section concerning the external views of Oolite ships, which can be improved. I posted my alteration of the original external views in two topics, but then I realized that it's not that easy. Ships have different sizes, so to have nice external views to a...

I had the same problem when I wanted to smoothe the Imperial Courier, player and NPC. Suddenly it was all dark, so I deleted the smooth-command from the shipdata again. Inserted it again after some time, and now it seems to work without darkening the ship. Weird! (And the pylons look SO much better ...

Believe me, neither in the C64- nor in the AtariST-version of ELITE did non-mining lasers vaporize the asteroids. Nor do they in Oolite. They vaporize some of the asteroids and break up some others into scoopable materials. And as far as I have tried mining lasers did and do exactly the same: Breaki...

I am currently working on an OXP with a set of missions in Galaxy 3. For news broadcasts I thought about "AlJazOora", or perhaps more conservative "ROoters". (I guess "BlOomberg" wouldn't really be a pun.)

What do you think of it?

Sorry, yesterday I didn't have enough internet-time to answer your comments and suggestions. But here I am now: The native Thargoid Plans takes place in G3, so to be sure of there being no mission briefing screen clash, you could set it to start after Thargoid Plans is completed Thanks, LittleBear. ...

Thanks to all for the encouragement! I'm trying to get on with the OXP. Right now I've got two questions. 1) In my OXP there is a Solar Research Station orbiting the sun of a planet. To make things easy in the beginning I used a modified Coriolis Station to do that job. The modifications should be e...

Set of Missions in Galaxy 3

I have just begun to work on my first real OXP, a set of interlinked missions in the lower right corner of Galaxy 3. It is going to be not so much a (one) storyline, but a series of storylines between which the player can switch back and forth, joining (and changing) factions, influencing the develo...

I'm afraid the matter is more complicated. Personally I like to fly up the tailpipe of big ships (see my signature  ) and blow them up, and that's exactly what they do: blowing up, leaving no remains except a nice load of cargo containers and perhaps an escape capsule to scoop up. No gho...

IIRC the treasuroid is a relic in an OXP, unfortunately I don't remember which one. I came across it while looking at the code of various OXPs, and again IIRC it was created by the author for purpose of testing something, and then not removed in the final release. (All information without warranty a...

Thanks, Cos! Actually I now had a deeper look into the external view thing and found out that even the increased view distances don't work for all ships. So for the Boas and especially the Anaconda it's better now, but still not good. On the other hand side, the Adder looks too small with the increa...
