According to the IEEE 754-1985 standard, the max double precision value is ±1.80e308. I believe this will provide you with many many real time years of torus cruising before anything overflows.

Re: Sun Gear

@another_commander Reading in EliteWiki, Planetinfo.plist Sun radius - a number between 1000 and 1000000. Remembering it was the same for Oolite 1.77. Is upper limit is actual yet? My largest suns in Sun Gear are up to 1 060 000. Is it technically safe? The system setup code contains this: // clamp...

Re: How to edit source - windows

Thanks for the kind words, really appreciated. Feel free to use Testing and Bug Reports or Discussion for anything development related, depending on whether you are fixing bugs or adding new stuff, there are no strict rules about it. If what you are doing is not cross-platform and works only on Windo...

Re: How to edit source - windows

I had a mistake in my instructions. Running the game through gdb is achieved by using the run command, not by typing its filename. Fixed above.

Re: How to edit source - windows

@phkb and @another_commander. Have you guys got an environment set up to be able to compile the code from your code editor and/or do step-through debugging and breakpoints? I'm basically looking to step through the code to see what it's doing - i'm not familiar with objective C and seeing it in act...

Re: Sun Gear

@stranger: Can you please give it one more try with the latest v1.89 nightly? One of the exceptions you are getting seems to be related to sun_color and it may be the result of using hue color value dictionaries in your script. In 1.89 a fix for cases like this has been inserted.

Re: How to edit source - windows

Welcome aboard! Yup, building Oolite on Windows requires the provided Dev Environment and a text editor of your choice. Notepad++ is what most people use these days and is a great tool overall (I use this as well). I usually use the Find and Find in Files capabilities of Notepad++ to find things in ...

Re: Scripters cove

While trying to find a work-around I ran into another problem, NPC ships hardly use back-weapons and even less broadsides. Is there any way that you could force or at least raise the chances that they are fired ? Yes there is. Increase their accuracy to above 5. Then the AI will start utilizing the...

Welcome CMDR ARGHouse It' is great to see that you are hacking away in the game's code; we could certainly do with more people who are willing to contribute in this field. To answer your question, check out PlayerEntity.m and PlayerEntityControls.m. The first is the main implementation of the player...

Re: planetinfo.plist "cloud_fraction" and "percent_cloud"

Not sure, to be honest. I just added percent_cloud to Lave because it just worked and did not think too much about it. When I get a chance, I'll try to see what exactly the code does with cloud_fraction and in what way it may be different to the percent_cloud property.

Re: Two Questions

1) The 'H' key is recognized only in the Developer Release versions of the game. If you are running the deployment build, then this key will not be detected. 2) Here is the list of all scan classes recognized by Oolite, together with the value the game assigns to each of those classes: CLASS_NOT_SET...
