I should've just *tried* it! I've just pushed an asteroid along in an unmodified Cobra III in the direction of Diso station. Just jumped into a system and saw some Clean fool in a cobra III fly straight into a Workers Commuter; lots of cargo! But my scoops wouldn't work! Argh! Collision damage?

If, for example,I fly into some cargo, it gets destroyed and my shields take a hit. I'm imagining the "cowcatcher" would allow you to collide with something with no damage to your ship or the thing you hit. And if that can be handled, what does the physics do? Can Oolite deal with what happens when ...

Shields

Didn't all that pushing wear down your shields? (as well as the nerves of the Monks of course!) And as for the asteroid, I guess the mission would need a special asteroid... incidentally,my mil laser seems to be just as good for mining as my mining one, and some of those huuuuge asteroids turn into ...

Thanks for more interest - it would be great if someone could make this one work. Re the "forward view full of asteroid" point, I imagine a few minutes of pushing with witch-fuel injectors at full blast (to send it crashing into some rogue planet or station!), rather than hours stuck behind the thin...

Hi, Thanks for thinking about the idea. I guess I'm really thinking of a front forcefield, like a cowcatcher on an old train, rather than a "doc" Smith pressor. So you could fly into something and, instead of crashing, you'd push it along. The skill would be pushing it in the right direction, nudgin...

I love the Commies expansion; definitely more Stalinist than Blairite though! I noticed when I docked with a Collective that my grams of gems had become tons - is that intentional or is there a fix? There was some wonderfully cheap machinery for sale but my 18g of gems prevented me from buying more ...
