Could you use setDestinationToStationBeacon instead? At least until the ship is in close enough to the "main" planet to reliably find it as its target? Or am I talking rubbish?

Edit: or, at the risk of spouting more garbage, setCourseToWitchpoint?

In order to make the whole thing work you need one more change: When you leave the Free Trade Zone the marker has to be reset, so that on your next visit you can be fined again.
