A few more typos: <string>who is thought to posses [random_hits_cool_item],</string> should be <string>who is thought to possess [random_hits_cool_item],</string> <string>rumoured to be in possesion of [random_hits_cool_item],</string> should be <string>rumoured to be in possession of [random_hits_c...

Would it be possible, via an OXP, to pay to name stations, asteroids, etc.? For a hefty sum you could call a coriolis station of your choice "The Hoopy Shopper" or some such. Utterly trivial and pointless, but such are the pleasures of the super-rich... or perhaps you could alter the F7 descriptive ...

"The Bell and 'Bark, I say!'" is, I admit, a little odd... And still it would be "'Bark, I say!' and The Carps", even odder. Ah! Yes, right enough. Sounds like a band from the '60s... I think "Zur bellenden Barbe" has -- if you'll pardon the pun -- a nice ring to it, myself, despite the adolescent ...

@Disembodied: Yes, "Barbe" is the name of a fish, and in plural it would be "Barben". But I hardly see any connection to "Bell". Although this is German as well. It's the sound a dog makes, so the English translation would be "bark", only that in German it's an imperative, not an infinitive. Still ...

I came across a minor typo in the descriptions.plist "The Bell and Barben" Keep up the good work. Hmm... apparently "barben" is German for "barbel" -- a type of fish. A carp, to be more specific. If there's a worry about using David Braben's name, there's a get-out for you... And sorry to hear abou...

Frontier with more Elite like 'physics' (at least for combat) and the OXPs would be really nice. Yeah... I know there are fans of the Newtonian flight model but for me, Frontier was killed by the absense of dogfighting. Just setting the autopilot, firing, breaking off, repeat... no fun. I'd like to...

I found out about Oolite via Channel 4's "GameCentral" Teletext pages: someone mentioned it on their letters page a while back, along with the fact that it ran on a Mac.

I had a good experience last night involving long-range shooting. It was a great demonstration of just how complex and interdependent the Oolite world can be. I was tootling along, in towards the station, when I was mass-locked by an Anaconda. I sat back and waited to overhaul it, but noticed that i...

Hmm... I think Magma's probably referring to the accuracy of the lasers, not the accuracy of Oolite as an emulation of Elite, or as a space simulator! At least that's my reading. Probably an issue connected to the slowness/low frame-rate of the game on Magma's laptop. Magma: if you've got a lot of O...

...and get your overhaul done at the highest-tech planet you can! TL14 or 15 for preference -- that way you can be sure that the technicians are fully qualified to maintain ALL your gear. And the complimentary coffee is usually a lot better.

Hey, what are you complaining about? Have you read my signature? 8) Yeah, but... graveyards, Commander? Actually, I wonder -- in the spirit of unleashing gigantic, titanic explosions -- what might happen if someone poops out a Q-mine in range of one of the proposed racetracks... that could be prett...

Bugger! I was going to do an ad with a penguin in it. I haven't done any bird ads yet and TGHC's comment about penguin suits made me realise how usefully humanoid they are... and there's the Doc rattling out a good 'un with a penguin in a flying helmet, no less. Oh well, I suppose I can do one with ...

@ Disembodied (and Svengali): Only recently (read: right now) I had a look at the wiki pages about GalCop and the different government types , which is part of the Powers and Organisations page. The information found there support my view. I could have referred to them earlier, but I simply hadn't ...

Hi Magma, welcome to the boards! I'm not sure if I can be of much help (actually, that's not true: I'm positive that I can't be of much help  ) but you might find some clues here . It does trail off a bit into general bad-mouthing of Vista but there might be something of use: see the first pos...
