3D Oolite

Hi.

Here's another crazy idea. I'm not particularly fond of 3D, but it is getting popular. What about a 3D version of Oolite? We can even get spacey with the glasses.

If you don't do it, I'll have to print and cut an aft view of an Asp and tape it to the screen while I run Celestia.

Yeah, I had to download again Celestia today and I had the same problem. I'll tell you when it's online again. Meanwhile, you can see the addons here:

Re: Celestia Crossover.

But if people can make ships for Celestia then there's no reason why someone couldn't make a ship from Elite/Oolite for Celestia. My thoughts exactly. If you can't or don't want to make Celestia a flyer you can send the ships as objects, as part of the scene of Celestia. I'd do it myself if I knew ...

Re: Celestia Crossover.

I know all these OXPs, they are great, but I do want to fly to Mars on an Asp.

Re: Celestia Crossover.

In Celestia you can center the camera on an object and then move towards it. It's like a first-person view. I don't have an education on computing, but it looks very close to a flight. You'd only have to add some ships. Anyway, in Celestia you can add objects like ships from other Universe...

From afar it would look like it's three spaceships flying in formation.

Celestia Crossover.

Celestia is a great piece of software, but you can't really fly on it. Have you ever considered making Oolite ships available for Celestia? Is it possible / doable? Edit: Or maybe someone could do an OXP with the planets and moons of the solar system. You could buy on Venus and sell on Jupite...

Maybe there should be some freighters moving cargo from the planets and into the stations.

Re: Why does Elite still matter?

My videogaming story is different. I come from PS3 and I just got tired of videogames that flatter me.You're always the hero, the coolest guy, the über-whatever... even in sandboxes. Here you're just a speck of metal among the stars.

That and OXPs, of course.

Re: It's confession time - who is an Oolite addict

If your "significant other" enquires about your Elite/Oolite/Frontier/Pioneer obsession, take some time to explain it to them. If they still don't get it, well that's their problem  The problem is that erm... I 'overexplained' it a bit. That's why she says I'm an addict. 'That little g...

Re: Autosave when in.

Well, veteran pilots don't need autosave, but it has saved my newbie guts many a time! Maybe just make it an option as to whether it saves on dock or launch, in the F2 screen? I was going to suggest that. There would be three options: Autosave: off Autosave: on dock Autosave: on launch

Autosave when in.

Hi. The autosave saves your game when you leave the Station. Wouldn't it be better if it saved as soon as you get there? There are many things that can go wrong at a Station and it would be useful to have a close save file. 'Oh dear, I bought Narcotics instead of Computers. There goes my Clean statu...

Hi.

Has anybody tried to use the PS3 controller with Oolite? Did it work?
