Interesting, does ECM have a timed effect then? Not just an "oh it's a missile, I'd better try and do something about it". What I'm asking is can it be used pre-emptively? If it can, how much time does it give you? I know that it forces a random check 4 times, but I take it from what your saying tha...

Out of interest do dead missiles "float" around in space after they've run out of fuel? Or does oolite clean them up?

Since mounting the rear military laser I've found the run away option to have a good kill rate of it's own. Sure the controls are reversed but in a prolonged chase your probably only talking mild changes to line up. The thing which really heffs me off is the "game of chicken with a side order of mis...

It's very much a "last ship in the line" game. I certainly wouldn't play tweezer out the pirate whilst 3 of his mates were lighting up my ass.

Well if it's played right it could be quite cool. Having another ship latched onto yours would make the handling and top speed go titzy. Ever seen a hot rod with caravan on the back of it? If you were feeling real nasty you may be able to make "Mr salvage" work for it by disabling the jump drive wit...

Yeah, I've had that a couple of times. It breaks my heart to see a good ship go to waste. It would be a big fix. In space and in station. I suppose you might be able to extend some of the scoop code. Difficult to scoop a ship though. Smile Then there's setting a bounty on station, maybe 20% of the v...

A slight revision in the above ship made for some easier texturing. http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/8766/picture17vr3.png Front view... http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/1907/picture29bb4.png Another view... doing it 19 times is just not in my interest. You put your whole ship in, you take your whole ship out, in, out, in, out, you fly it all about. You fill her up with cargo and turn around, that's what it's all about. Ohhhh! Maybe fry a pirate. Ohhhh! Maybe find a hermit. Ohhhh! Maybe mine some alloy...

Come to think of it I'm assing around with a bleeding edge oolite version on the mac. So is it possible that, might be causing the oxp to do something funny? Hmmm maybe I need to step down a version and try it again.

Cool, diagnostic space death. This sure beats normal every day ho hum code bashing!

Also out of general interest, does this mission start with the in station warning or with the launch of your ship from the station? IE when does the astaroid start its "roll". That might be where I'm screwing up. Sorry, I'm being lazy I could just look this up for myself, it's just easier to ask the...

We'll try the energy bomb, witch inject out of the way, hit with missiles and (maybe if there's time) get some rounds off with the military lasers. If that doesn't work, well I'm just going to have to download the missiles oxp and buy me some mini-nukes. Bloody waste of credits over a dumb rock. If ...

There are 2 possible problems here, It's a bug or I'm being crap. Hmmm. According to the asteroid's specs two military salvos should be more then sufficient to kill it. So perhaps it's the latter problem?  (I assume you are using the latest version, "Ast_StormV3"?) My ego won't let me ...

(According to the book, the second 'first-person' shooter that Carmack authored was Wolfenstein 3-D; the first was 'Hovertank' released in April 1991.) There were of course numerous first-person shooters before that… like, say, Elite. I thought it’d be reasonable to stick to textured raycasters, th...
