Re: inter stellar propulsion

There may be no feeling of acceleration, but I promise you that you are accelerating Further to which, if you don't, at exactly the right moment, begin accelerating yourself in the correct direction, to at least a close approximation of the speed of the wave, it won't even "pick you up" and take yo...

Re: Consider Phlebas – the TV series

Looking forward to seeing what they make of it. Fingers crossed they don't bugger things up.

(But I don't "do" subscription services, or watch TV. Guess I'll have to do the usual, and obtain it via less "conventional" means...  )

Re: BGS - The BackgroundSet

This is a well known thing. The loading order under Macs and Windows is alphabetical, while Linux is unpredictable. There is no solution for it yet. There might be a couple of potential solutions.. the same problem has been encountered with other games on Linux that rely on loading mods in a specif...

If you want to see examples of my art just type in John GoldenWolf into a Google search and you will find me, hit images and quite a few of my pieces will come up.

So this would be you, I take it?

I’m also a former VIC-20 and C64 owner - you’ll find quite a lot of us here actually, particularly C64 owners. Guilty as charged, your honour.. Taught myself to program on a VIC-20, and when I got a C64, Elite was the very first game played on it! G'day and welcome to all our recent new m...

Re: Spoken Word mode

I'm on a MacBook so F2 is the same as pushing 2. Changing the function key defaults was one of Apple's more brain-dead moments, at least for gamers.. Fortunately, it's curable. (I've had to do this for a Mac-gamer friend recently) If you'd like your Mac to behave more like the rest of the computing...

Errrr, I started Oolite to check the situation ... which may have re-written that?

Indeed it would have.. fortunately, this is why Oolite keeps not just the Latest.log, but also a Previous.log file.. :D

Are you on a VPN, or behind a firewall, or behind a proxy (or other network element) that could perhaps prevent Oolite from reaching dropbox URL? (this is where Stashes is stored)

Dropbox now supports direct download links?

On-topic: wolfs is a verb.
Which begs the question, just what is the tree wolfing down?
Haven't you read your Tolkein? The trees are Ents, and Ents wolf wolves.
 Well played, sir!

I must've mis-read.. all this time, I thought Ents ate orcs and goblins.

Re: Go SpaceX

The final rocket burn of the SpaceX craft carrying Elon Musk's personal Tesla Roadster into the cosmos pushed the billionaire's flash jalopy much further than anticipated. It's now heading out toward the Solar System's asteroid belt rather than swinging close by Mars. Excellent! [twangin' guitars] ...
