Re: Ray Bradbury gone at 91 yrs

Ouch. Sad to see him go.

...This is a rather unfortunate reminder that I still haven't actually read the book. I've seen the movie, but I was so young I barely remember any of it.

Ballad of a Young Spacer Cut Down in His Prime

Didn't exactly know where to post this, so I figured I'd put it in "Fiction," since it would seem to fit here better than most. I've been on a classic folk music kick for a bit, which gave me a little inspiration. The tune I wrote this to is an old one and a good one. There's been about a thousand d...

Re: Why does Elite still matter?

I seem to be a little late to the discussion, as usual :P I'm not a veteran Elite pilot like many of the people on these boards are. My first exposure to the game, in fact, came through Oolite a few years ago. However, even though I'm a relative newcomer, I agree that the elements that everyone else...

Re: It's confession time - who is an Oolite addict

My answer's a lot similar to SandJ's: I don't consider myself an Oolite addict as such, but I tend to get a singleminded fixation on whatever I'm interested in at the moment until I either burn out on it or something else distracts me. Of course, I don't spend as much time playing it as I do thinkin...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

What the pirates totally forgot or ignored (and which I didn't mention above for effect) was that I was passing a navy Behemoth with a dozen escorts. Largest flotilla I've come across lately. As soon as the pirates opened fire the escorts pounced. I think the whole battle took about 10 seconds. I w...

Re: Finis talk - WARNING - CONTAINS SPOILERS

Finally got around to reading this, and I have to say it: You done good, Drew. The whole series is great, and Finis is a fitting ending to it.

Re: Backwards compatibility

Success! Everything carried over, minus a few OXPs that I probably won't miss / can update.

Backwards compatibility

I'm currently running Oolite 1.74.2, and I'm thinking of installing the latest version (1.75.3) so that I can play around with some of the newer OXPs. However, before I do, can I port my pilot profiles from the old game to the new one safely? I'd hate to have to restart from scratch. Thanks in advan...

Re: Ghost Nova (first chapters)

I've taken a brief glance at it (haven't really had time to read it in depth, especially since it looks like it's going to take a bit of effort), but a few basic pointers from what I've seen: 1. Way, way, way too many ellipses. (...) An ellipsis is usually only used in formal writing when you're omi...

Re: Ghost Nova (first chapters)

Personally, I use OpenOffice for anything I write privately. It saves in odt, and it has a built-in PDF converter (I think; otherwise, it's a downloadable extension, at the very least). I might take a crack at critiquing your English. I'm a bit busy with school at the moment, plus a little creative ...

Re: Rough Guide to the Ooniverse

Yep, it's me again, back with another article. I've actually been sitting on this one a while; I typed up most of it a while back, then forgot about it until about a day or so ago and decided to finish it. Enjoy! Oh happy day! I've just discovered that I can post on the forum from my phone!

Another wonderful chapter, Ganelon. I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen at the dinner. Hopefully Carver will get another chance to prove his derring-do soon!

Huh, interesting to know. Still, it was very surprising to see so many in one place, especially compared to the meager stocks of everything else.

I guess those shoplifters never learn, eh?

*gasp* Shocking Slavery Scandal!

So while on my way to parts north in Galaxy One, I decide to stop by a local Pi-42 constore in the Lerelace system to refuel: http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv213/Specialist290/Oolite/shady1.png I know, I could've easily gone sundiving to get some free fuel, but I was feeling hasty, not cheap th...
