Quick question: I know that key label or string value must be quoted in ASCII if it contains spaces. What about "-"s and "_"s? I've seen alot of different cases and I'm pretty uncertain if it is OK to leave those unquoted. I mean, obviously windows will accept unquoted "_"s (not sure about "-"s), bu...

I really don't know how I managed to miss those comments...
Well, I know, actually.. I've searched the resulting plist for backslashes, and notepad++ didn't find any (and there are several comments).

You’re putting commas after arrays in dictionaries, which does not make sense.. Thanks for the input... will fix that. There is always a semicolon after the dictionary. - At the end there are "};" listed wheat should be "}," or better "}". Now, I'm confused. An array consists of items separated by ...

I've fixed the translator code so it will generate commas and semi-columns according to array/dictionary structure. Here is re-uploaded OSE-XML.plist, so if anyone would care to test it (and point the errors) I would greatly appreciate it.

That (failed) attempt was actually a latest feature of a toolset that is in the developing (progress at continuous 95%). Something that started as a simple tool to reduce a XML size (initiated by OSE plist size :D ) grew into a tool that does that in a batch... now has about 20 features that mostly ...

- You defined the outer shell as a dictionary. Than you need a key value next but it is a new directory declaration. - At the end there are "};" listed wheat should be "}," or better "}". When I try to load my plist editor now already stumbles over the first line. That outer shell would be <plist><...

aaaaand that's why I still haven't released my unnamed baby yet..

Thanks for the pointers.

(I would've sworn that I fixed that comma-ending list...)

Re: .

@Chaky: You did translate it to OpenStep, not java script! So I will use the java script version, of pmw57! :( No I didn't. I just wrote the code that did. (is that what it's called?) And I never said anything about JS. I said ASCII... come to think of it, it's kind of a miracle that code works at ...

Tell you what.. I'll upload my translation of OSE-XML.plist for comparison.

Edit: And here it is! I might upload few translated files more in a near future.

The translation seems OK, but I don't guarantee it. All it takes is one rouge <key> to make the translation gibberish.

Well, the code I made is painfully depndent on integrity of XML (not so vice-versa), and this tool I made (still haven't come up with a name..) already spotted "errors" with many XML-ed plists. "errors" as in <string> instead of <integer> for numbers.. I'm not sure if the quotes are mandatory for na...

I've already made a tool that translates XML to ASCII and back.

I only haven't released it yet....

Done so far: - Translating from ASCII to XML and back (very sensitive to rouge keys...) - "Rules check" (that's how I named it) of shipdata, shipyard and planetinfo plists, according to elitewiki. In other words, it will report errors if <string> is used where <real> or <integer> is expected, plus i...

Same here, only I snipped the space in between. (When I posted here.. not in the file)

Problem was I typed "-Verify-OXP" instead of "-verify-oxp".

Edit: ...And, yes, it is logcontrol.. not logicontrol... (almost like a mind control, heh?)

Well.. it used to..

For some reason I can't run that verify-OXP anyhow... not manually nor via this tool...(both trunk and 1.73.3)

Any thoughts?

Only thing I've changed was "verifyOXP.verbose = yes;" in 1.73's logic control.

Edit: Nevermind.. capitalizations screwed with my head
