Re: Andromeda OXP v1.4

OK, thanks. When I've finished the current cargo run in my Boa I'll give it a try.

Re: Andromeda OXP v1.4

OK, but that still leaves you outside the station - not good if you need maintenance or repairs.

Re: Andromeda OXP v1.3

No, this is the only big ship I had. It's a fun ride, but it just isn't a challenge - it seems to be well-nigh indestructible, and you can keep the afterburners running more or less forever if you need to make a getaway. I crossed Galaxy 4 NE to SW in about 2 hours of play, and made about a quarter ...

Re: [WIP] Andromeda OXP v1.2

Coming to this a bit late - had a play with this tonight, for various reasons I think I won't be adopting this as my ship of choice (it makes long cargo hauls ridiculously easy, which I don't feel is right for the setting) but I noticed one thing which I thought I should mention - a ship this big an...

Re: Screenshots

Since I currently have nearly 14 million in the bank I thought I'd try an executive toy - an Andromeda. By sheer chance the first system I found that had one for sale was a ringed planet, so I got some nice shots with that as background: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/MarcusRowland/oolite-04...

Re: Season's Greetings

And for 1950s SF fans - have another fun Xmas cartoon, from this week's Private Eye magazine

Pausing on the F2 page

When the ship is docked at a station and you press 2/F2, all of the functions are things like saving and loading games, setting game options, etc., not things that are happening within the game. So why does the clock keep going? Shouldn't selecting this screen automatically pause the game? Not a big...

Season's Greetings

My online card for this year is here, as usual a blast from the late Victorian past.

Hope you all have a lovely holiday!

Re: Ambitious Idea: Ship's AI

If it could solve the travelling salesman problem and come up with optimum routes so that packages and cargo for multiple destinations all arrive in good time I would be very interested.

Re: Added a graphics card

OK, finally got to see this properly tonight - got jumped by three very aggressive pirates with no fuel left, had to dogfight them off. They really looked amazing up close, I can definitely see the difference.

OK, I suppose that this is one of those ideas that will just cause problems. Let's forget about it.

So go with the popular ones, perhaps, if there's some way of tracking which ones get downloaded the most?

Recommended Add-Ons for Beginners

One problem I've noticed with the current add-on system is that there is nothing to guide a newcomer who has never played the game before. You just have a list that goes on and on with nothing to indicate which add-ons are almost essential, which are optional, and which can be a real pain if you try...

Re: Joystick trouble

I tend to buy video game style USB joysticks like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320549238035 plenty of programmable buttons and two independent "sticks", the little mushroom things, which you work with your thumbs, and cheap as chips. They even have motors built in for vibration, and I really wish...

Re: Best version for OLD PPC Macs?

OK, that's a HUGE improvement. For some reason it doesn't appear to be possible to adjust the gamma, but everything else is working well. And I have joystick without any pesky driver program!
