Re: [Release] System Features: Rings

What do you guys think about this? I have tweaked the formula which calculates the alpha channel component to make the rings look less transparent than in my last images. I think these look more realistic, any opinions on this? https://i.postimg.cc/PxSntDPD/oolite-0.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/rFBXFMFf...

Re: Screenshots

I think what Griff says could easily be accomplished with a shader. The rings OXP simply projects shader magic into a plane-like object which is added around the planet. So I think that similarly, one could add a plane at the entrance of all stations and then use a shader to project the energy barri...

Re: [Release] System Features: Rings

@Griff Thank you so much! I actually coded the alpha channel logic in the shader so, to my surprise, this did not require any update whatsoever 8) That said, I am thinking about raising a tiny bit the minimum amount of transparency, I will experiment here and perhaps make a new version @Prester John...

This is how the System Features: Rings OXP is looking like now that shaders are supporting alpha channel manipulations: https://i.postimg.cc/W3tj03Zg/oolite-0.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/F1X4tVBV/oolite-1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/MT4w5S04/oolite-2.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fy9NgrBb/oolite-3.jpg https://...

Re: [Release] System Features: Rings

Wow, this is how this OXP is looking now out of the box. Wonderful stuff, another_commander. I am actually very satisfied with how it is looking! https://i.postimg.cc/W3tj03Zg/oolite-0.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/F1X4tVBV/oolite-1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/MT4w5S04/oolite-2.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fy9N...

Re: [Release] System Features: Rings

That's fantastic, I just checked the code and indeed I left the alpha code in place in case such feature would ever be implemented, thank you so much. I will check if everything is looking fine and see what can be improved, perhaps besides the fade in/out I mentioned I could also cap the max alpha t...

Re: [Release] System Features: Rings

Wow, that looks fantastic, another_commander! As soon as the nightly is out I will make a new version of this OXP. In your screenshots, did you just add a fixed amount of alpha or did you make the alpha proportional to the intensity of the colours? I will try both and see what I can come up with. I ...

Re: [Release] Dangerous HUD

Yes, another_commander is right, you need to use one of the nightly releases in order to use this HUD. Else you can download older versions here: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/File:Gsagostinho.DangerousHUD.OrangeVariant.oxz http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/File:Gsagostinho.DangerousHUD.BlueVarian...

Re: Shaders’ Outpost

Hi smcameron, thank you so much for your post! Your works looks really good. The problem I ran when I was working on that shader was that it was not possible to use transparencies, only full 1.0 or 0.0. The result I manage to get looks like this: http://aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18921&p=25...

Re: Shaders’ Outpost

That looks impressive, Griff! On a side note, would anyone be able to explain to me how the values for the variables cloud_color, land_color, polar_cloud_color, polar_land_color, polar_sea_color and sea_color for each planet were generated? I am considering writing an OXP which changes those variabl...

Re: [Release] gsagostinho's Texture Pack: Python

@Norby I had the impression that the Python model in that OXP is not a Griff model, in which case my textures would not work. The model would need to be replaced as well in the override plist.

Re: [Release] gsagostinho's Texture Pack: Python

Hi Damocles, thanks for the message, I am happy you like these textures. Unfortunately from what I could tell that OXP you mentioned uses a different model of Python altogether so it would not simply be a texture replacement. My suggestion for you is the following: you could simply edit the file /Co...
