There's also the Military HUD, which makes long-range aiming vastly easier, since it has an aiming pip and targets turn red on the targeting enhancement thing when you're aiming very close to them.

Well, yes, but Bell has stated outright that the Elite and Frontier universes are separate, which kind of makes that redundant or even non-canon.

Erm. If it just skips through systems with <= 7 LY jumps, how would you get across, say, the Great Rift in G7?

So it just makes a wormhole to <arbitrary system>, ignoring the 7 LY jump limit?

Wait, exactly how does this work? Does it make a wormhole into interstellar space, or...?

The Whole Frontier Canon Mess

I was pottering around Ian Bell's website and I decided to look into the source of his text Elite. In the comments at the start he states "Note that this is not the universe of David Braben's 'Frontier' series." I have no idea what to think of this, so I'll leave it at that.

Well, on a whim, I poked into Latest.log, and I noticed that Famous Planets (which is what turns Sori, a TL 9 backwater with Ascension) is listed after most other OXPs in the list. Could this be related?

Station ship selection

I just made a passenger contract to Ascension, thinking that the TL of 16 would mean a wonderful selection of ships to ogle. I arrived there, only to find that it only had some Pythons and some Wolf Mk. IIs. I am severely ticked off by this, and would much appreciate if someone would tell me what th...

Well, I found Oolite after seeing Elite on an old Archimedes I had access to (being too young by far to have played it when it was anything like current), then I Googled it and found Oolite on the Wikipedia page (which is pretty big exposure in itself).

Generation Ships OXP scripting

I haven't had time to test this, but it seems to me that the code for populating generation ships in interstellar space: this.shipWillExitWitchspace = function() { if(!system.isInterstellarSpace) return if(Math.random() < 0.02) system.legacy_addShipsWithinRadius("generationship-1", 1, "wpm", [0, 0, ...

It's great, but there are a few niggles I had (I've customised them away, so I'm just putting them here as constructive criticism). The first was that the target isn't highlighted when you have it lined up in your sights in on yellow alert, which is annoying if you are trying to snipe pirates who ar...

I did that. It didn't work. I deleted the cache file in ~/GNUStep. It didn't work. I suppose I could rm -r ~/GNUStep, but that's going a little too far.

EDIT: I did that. It didn't work.

Griff ships weirdness

I disabled Griff ships a while ago after my graphics drivers started playing up, yet I still see them regularly in place of normal ships. There seems to be no reason for it, and the normal ships are still used. My Latest.log is: [log.header]: Opening log for Oolite version 1.74.2 (x86-64 test releas...

Witchpoint-sun route

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but why is it empty? It seems hard to believe that the player is the only one who uses it.

Aaargh, I've fallen afoul of the "slow time down" key combination again. Can someone remind me how to undo it?
