Re: Amusing Little Subreddit

My gosh, there's half an hour of my life I won't get back.

That subreddit is strangely addictive. I loved the "...serious audio lag..." bug post (referring to watching fireworks)

Re: [Solved] Help how do I Install 1.80. oolite im new to Li

OK, so I don't think that I'm getting the behaviour I was expecting. When I use the --target install parameter, all it is doing (that I can see) is installing the Resources folder to my specified location. This doesn't seem to have any effect on the location of the AddOns or the ManagedAddOns folder...

Thanks for the tip Norby - I didn't notice that last post on the previous page.

Re: [Solved] Help how do I Install 1.80. oolite im new to Li

It's time for my annual Christmas laptop reimaging. This year I'm going to give Linux Mint 17.3 a try. Initial experience has been great - the show stopping hardware glitches that I encountered a couple of years ago are no longer there. Haven't ditched Windows completely - I'll still be running Wind...

Re: The Oolite economy - Police response

Well if (and that's a very big IF) I decide to do something like this, then the name of the OXP/Z would be "Local Militia". They would be supplementary to the existing GalCop presence.

Re: The Oolite economy - Police response

Ah well that's kind of a shame. That puts the brakes somewhat on introducing more regional variation between systems (I did like my idea being stung for a law enforcement bill when arriving at the main station of a Corporate State). But the beauty of Oolite is if I like this idea enough, I can alway...

The Oolite economy - Police response

I've been wondering lately about whether the numbers on the system description page (F7) stands up to close analysis. (This is merely a brain dump. I'm not planning any OXPs around this). Edit: Originally I was going to explore the actual numbers but my brain has degenerated this train of thought in...

<more applause and cheering>

Agreed, a great read here.

I do hope that, given your practice of using your in-game experiences as inspiration for the story, that Mossfoot's (sorry, I mean Maurice Foot's) sudden drop in credit balance and rank was not the result of an unexpected commander reset. :o

Re: Elite: Dangerous - and cobblers!

It's Frontier's new self-published game that they're developing. If you were on the ED mailing list you got an email about it. It's one of their roller coaster games. Humph! I could have sworn I removed myelf from the E: D mailing list. It seems that I've now had to remove myself from a second mail...

Re: Mossfoot's Tales of Woe...

Hey Mossfoot, so your latest installment (your story is humming along quite nicely too :-)) has got me putting on my tinfoil hat again. What if this weekend's Exploration Outage was nothing more than a tactic to 'encourage' greater participation in CQC?

Re: Gaming on virtual hardware

If I'm hosting VMs do I want lots of spinning metal RAIDed together, or a bunch of SSDs, or a combination of both? The main consideration here would be the lifespan of the SSDs, I'm thinking. Eliminating unnecessary write operations to the drive is the key to longevity with SSDs. To some extent mod...

Gaming on virtual hardware

Hi everyone, just wanting to access the hive intelligence... My current gaming machine is starting to show its age now (an Alienware M17x R3 laptop purchased in 2011) and I'm looking at replacement options. The thing is, I also use this machine for running a smattering of VMs (both Linux and Windows...

Oolite screensaver mode or zero player mode

So this is an idea that pops up in my head from time to time, and admittedly I first saw a similar concept mulled on the Limit Theory forum. Oolite Zero-player mode - where the game plays itself. It would be a great screensaver (although as far as screensavers go, it would probably still demand a lo...

Now why hasn't anyone created a mud wrestling game? Think of all the DLC that can be sold afterwards! Jelly Wrestling DLC, Celebrity DLC, NSFW DLC!

OK returning you to your regular programming.
