Re: [RELEASE] SafetyCatch OXP v1.1
Finally used this in anger today - fighting three Thargoids, two fugitives and a load of Thargoid fighter robots in a dense asteroid belt, they thought they had me outgunned but insisted on following me when I ran. Got the lot! And I suspect would have fired the thing prematurely if it hadn't had t...

Strange but true
I got an email today with a header that began "Confirmation of your OOdals order"
Just for a moment I wondered if I was getting email from the Ooniverse, but of course it was actually a vendor on eBay.

Re: Where do I go from here?
What I'd forgotten is that this PC has a low noise low power consumption PSU, it turns out that a graphics card will push it so much that the manufacturer recommends replacing it. Which means I'd be paying at least 40-50 pounds or more to get the speed boost, really can't convince myself it's worth ...
Re: Lego Car!
Just out of curiosity, has anyone done a Lego spaceship OCX for Oolite? Can't recall one.

Trumble / Tribble confusion
I was just looking at the Wikipedia article on Tribbles and noticed that someone had said that there were Tribbles in Elite.
Am I right to think that even in Elite's earliest days these were Trumbles, not Tribbles? I've edited the article accordingly, but if I'm wrong it will need to be changed.

Re: Differnt launch key for mine?
Sounds more reasonable - and people like things more if they have to pay for them.

Re: Anaconda with Naval Energy unit
Um... well, I suppose there's no accounting for taste. I prefer the Boa Cruiser - sweet fast ride, maneuverable, 175 tons cargo, five missiles, and it can take a lot of damage if you've got a NEU and military shields. The Cobra is fun too, but fast beats big any day, as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Anaconda with Naval Energy unit
You should also be aware that if you buy a ship with an NEU and it gets broken you won't be able to fix it but it can be replaced with an extra energy unit. The NEU is awarded to the player for successful conclusion of a core-game mission, and after you have been officially awarded one, it can be r...

Re: Differnt launch key for mine?
Also, I just got charged 0 credits to repair it, which seems a bit strange.

Re: Differnt launch key for mine?
And works well, but I think it should cost a bit more - since it also does something automatically that would normally cost 20 credits!

Re: Where do I go from here?
This computer has Intel HD4600 integrated and it seems to stutter a little with Griffs loaded - maybe it's a Windows problem rather than graphics card, I'd say it's an "integrated" problem.. an integrated graphics chip is never going to perform as well as a dedicated card, because the int...

Re: Joystick recommendation for Windows 7 64-bit
Yikes - I just buy the cheapo controller-type USB joysticks on eBay, you can get something reasonably good for about a fiver (UK). Lots around like this one:

Unfortunately the vibration function isn't supported as far as I can tell.

Re: Differnt launch key for mine?
I think the safety catch idea sounds best - I don't want to carry more mines/missiles than the game allows, and I think that dropping the energy bomb was a good idea - but some scenarios written before this change really seem to need it. If the Q-mine is the only available replacement, and I've got ...

Re: Where do I go from here?
I'm running Griff's plus Respray plus Z-Groovy Cobra Variety pack plus Povray Planets plus Zygo's asteroids and nebulas plus a boatload of other OXPs on a Intel HD3000 and not getting any significant slowdowns, FPS hovering between 45 and 60. This computer has Intel HD4600 integrated and it seems t...
