Let's Play Oolite

Now that I have proper hardware for that job, I can finally record the Let's Play I wanted to make.
If you don't know, a Let's Play is a commented play or playthrough.
So, if you have any suggestions / feedback (later), please tell me :)
I think I'll just record a bit how I'm trading and travelling with my Python. Maybe I'll do some "how to start" videos later, too.

Rise Of A Bounty Hunter

The videos from ep 7 and upwards (python session) are 720p, 1-6 are in 864x480. With HTML5/H.264, you are offered only 360p :( So the the best quality for the first six parts comes (sadly) with Flash 480p.
If you want to avoid Flash and rather want to download the .mov files, use these:

Now that I record in 720p, the filesize has notable incrased (>200MB). I have a volume limit at dropbox, so I won't be able to upload all of them (future ones included) there. But I guess since you get the full quality via youtube and since you can easily download them as .mp4 from there, there's no need to do that anyway anymore.

A good list. I think it is important to say (at the beginning of the video) that there is a big difference between vanilla and OXP-enhanched Oolite. I also suggest that you first show footage of vanilla and then the OXP-enhanched version.

I thought of making an "OXP special", showing the OXPs showing vanilla Oolite. But I'll definitely mention that it's thoroughly eXpanded at the start.

Ever thought of using numeric hud?
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

I'm inclined to agree about the Numeric HUD. And post the link to your LP when you start it. I'd love to see it and I'm sure others would too.

Nice set of OXPs there, but surprised to see Your Ad Here not included - those extra trading opportunities can really help out a new Jameson (assuming you are going to start all fresh faced & eager with your Cobby III and pocket change). Nice eye-candy too :wink:

Since the ships are technically done, you could add in the DSE (Wyvern) OXP - DSE-S would probably be the better one (and make sure it isn't the ST, otherwise the Wyverns will be EVERYWHERE!) http://aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10398

i don't think you need this oxp "Griff_Debris_sets135_no_normal_map.oxp" anymore, it's gone a bit out of date now and might give you frame rate stutters if it even works at all these days

I'll add the link to the playlist in the first post. At the moment, there's only an intro-video which is recorded with suboptimal parameters and tells you stuff about Oolite you in here already know for sure ;)
Guess I'll definitely use the NumHud for one of the record sessions (I want to record a bit of a trader's life, a session where I start, etc.)

Took it out by purpose - I like the Deep Horizons Nav Buoy better and the ConStores don't have a great reputation regarding the game balance. Might be nice for scenery, though... hmmm.

From what I seen with screenies in IRC, they don't really fit so well together with the Griff ships. :( Took a bunch of other ships out because of that, too. I think the only non-standard ships I left in are the Venoms and the Werewolves.
