This may have been the hanging pointer that Giles fixed. 1.62-2 for Linux should be out by the end of the evening (which includes this fix).

Did you notice the "OPENGL_DEBUG GL_ERROR (1280) 'invalid enumerant' in: Universe before doing anything"? I’m in the dark; AFAICT the string “before doing anything” isn’t in the source, at least on the Mac side.

That particular error comes up every time I start the game in either WinXP or Linux...

Seems to be a dangling error from some previous GL code that doesn’t call checkGLErrors(). :-/

I've never found XCode's find thingy any use. I end up using grep most of the time (or Spotlight).

FYI - I'm using 1.62-2 on Linux and see the OpenGL error, which causes a freeze. I also get a lot of these before that:

The OpenGL error is "normal", so I doubt its what's at fault. If you built from souce, run the debugger, and when it hangs hit Ctrl-C in the debugger and get a back trace. Freezes are caused by either memory exhaustion (in which case there will be a lot of thrashing, and perhaps one frame every 10 seconds) or infinite loops, or something blocking forever.

Ignore the DTD errors, they are harmless, it's just GNUstep whinging that it can't find the DTD to check the validity of the XML that follows on (maybe now that OOXMLExtensions is in, we can forgo the base GNUstep XML altogether, hmm... have to look into that).
