Dark Rainbow is now available in the manager.
I applied the "graphical glitch" fix (cadg_shady.png) and due to the change I increased the oxz version number to 1.1.
The other suggested script speedup is now in Neocaduceus.oxz and inherited so no need to put into this package.

Thx a lot for all the actions Norby !

If I may make a couple of remarks ...

1. I was previously under the impression that the 'cadg_shady' fix thingy was supposed to be applied ONLY to the machines where the graphical glitch appeared, and therefore I never tested it myself since I didn't have that particular issue. Your change to the OXZ implies it will be OK for everybody to use the fixed version, regardless of hardware - izzzat really so ?

2. About the script speedup: IIRC, there were TWO different 'improved' versions published to the same thread within a short period of time, and someone (t'was Thargoid maybe ... ???) ended up picking up the wrong one by mistake at the time. So, depending on where you collected the improved version from, there's a chance you've used the 'partially' improved one. Gimme a shout if you'd like more precise pointers for that stuff !

Cheers !

EDIT: the 1st post in this thread was updated appropriately.

Looks well at me with and without shaders also so I assume will work for anyone.

Thanks, now I added the other improvement also into Neocaduceus.oxz.

Hi folks

Firstly, many thanks! I've been flying the Dark Rainbow now for a short while, after saving up for ages. It took a little getting used to, but it's really quite brilliant. All you'd expect from a serious luxury ship with go-faster stripes. At last I feel like I've made it, and joined the elite billionaires with their suntans and trophy girl/boy/assorted exotic life form - friends. No longer shall they mock me and my stained overalls and rusty battle scarred jalopy. And all the sweeter it is, for this is the not the fruit of inherited or swindled wealth, but of a lot of hard and dangerous work. And by work, I mean defending the meek and noble by reducing assorted baddies and aliens to space dust using gratuitous violence. Although now I have 'arrived', I may have to improve my Zero Gravity Golf somewhat.

Anyway: There seems to be a problem with the towbar. In rear view it looks like I'm looking through the towbar, rendering the rear view useless along with my tactics of running from danger while overheating my rear laser.

When moving around I can see the towbar and rear view as usual; when I continue in a straight line it reverts to viewing straight down the middle of the towbar - the whole screen is filled with it, millions of fine lines from the outside toward the centre, where they converge on a tiny hole through which I can glimpse a fragment of the action behind me.

* I wanted to insert a screenshot, but I don't have a way of hosting it online anywhere right now to link to.

Cheers.

Upload it to here, then link to it (thumbnail is best).

Greetings Commander Bumble !

Not sure if I'll be able to help you at all (haven't played in years and the game is no longer installed). :?

Just a heads-up: from my end it looks like you posted just a loose thumbnail, without a working link to the actual image ... and the thumbnail itself is too tiny for my eyes to actually distinguish any features.

Cheers and hope you can work this issue out quickly ! :D

Thank you for the report, please update to Dark Rainbow v1.2 where the aft viewpoint should be fixed.

The gun (originally) was designed for pure accuracy.
The rainbow variation may have "messed" with this some what.
I still have the utmost faith in the variation however and it's creator.

Well, it might be that old age is finally taking its toll on me ...

... or it just might be the language barrier and the less widely known 'side' meanings of words, but:

I haven't the faintest idea of what is this towbar you're all talking about !

Hey sdrubble, in case you're still interested.... you've seen now (thanks phkb) what the towbar is supposed to be like; this is how it had appeared in my rear view:
https://postimg.org/image/yfy2zb2sp/

Norby: Many many thanks. I am ecstatic to report that the update has fixed the issue completely. Was most helpful while trying to shake off the fierce Guards of The Curse in COTBS, as they chased me down with a Curse infected system, shields and fuel gone, 2/3 of my equipment knocked out, HUD malfunctioning... but my rear military laser keeping me alive by a hair's breadth.

Have a fab weekend folks.
