I think the bit at the bottom of the log might be significant

but TBH I'm not sure what it means.
It might be related to one of the OXPs, so maybe try removing them and starting the game again. If the game starts, add the OXPs back in one by one and see what happens.

Greetings and welcome.

The log above is from the current in-development trunk (see the first line - it's oolite version 1.77). The current stable release is 1.76.1 (available here). As the trunk code is where the devs are working, it is not guaranteed to be fully operational on a daily basis. For general gameplay you are better with the stable version (1.76.1).

The last line of the log gives some clue about what is going wrong, which may be of use to the dev's if this trunk revision is broken under linux. But my first suggestion is to try a 1.76.1 install instead.

I have no clue either, but the game is supposed to break off when encountering a [startup.exception]. My guess is that there is something missing that it was expecting to be there. It is happening just after finishing the SplashScreen. I don't think oxps are already active at that moment.

That's still the in-development version 1.77 you're running there instead of the current 1.76.1

k im gona become super user and chown folder to me. then ill redownload again try again. im watching the codes and their installing 1.76.1 for sure. ill post my results after

k looks it still installing 1.77...is there such a thing as 1.76.1 for linux? where do i find Oolite 1.76.1 ?

ok I found oolite-1.76.1.linux-x86.tgz so how install it?

I'd give that a try as it appears you are running into problems trying to build from source.

What steps are you taking after checking out? Have you got multiple copies of different branches copied onto your system? If so are you compiling in the correct branch (i.e are you CDing to the right folder before running your make command?).

ok thats a fail maybe it doesn't work anymore, ill just use the Oolite in Ubuntu Software center you cant add oxps but it works =/ thanks for the help. this is i tried with fails

v1.75.3 is now very out of date, and as you realise many OXPs just won't work with it, so it is worth persevering with installing 1.76.1.
Did you read/follow the advice in this thread?

You have to be in the same folder that your tgz file is. The above error would indicate that you weren't when you tried to perform the action.

Once you have done that, you need to install it. To do that system-wide, you need

sudo ./<filename>.run
where <filename> is the name of the .run file that the tgz should spit out. If you want it just local then skip the sudo bit. Note the ./ , as that is needed as Linux doesn't include the current folder in the search path. Indeed if you are still having problems you might want to add it to the tar line, but if I remember well it isn't needed there.[/color]
