Thank-you. It's interesting, I'm trying to write Lazarus in 500 word chunks and I'm trying to do it in no more than 30-45 mins at a time. Since my fellow writers in my writer's circle indicate that I can occasionally ramble a bit, this is helping a lot! In fact my current novel should benefit enormously as it is a mixture of the main character's thoughts and observations while he blogs and plays online games in an effort to avoid RL(tm) - my current chapters are short (about 1000 words each) but I reckon I can be brave and make them even shorter... _________________ Life, the Ooniverse, Everything

How does one join a writing circle? I have a work (which is a bit off the wall) that I'll like to guage some opinion on before I go to press. _________________ Medusa.HUD NeoCaduceus

I got lucky, my wife while pregnant and with nothing better to do read in the small ads that my local one was looking for new members so I asked to join and they said yes.
However, the guy who started it did so for the very reasons you have just stated, he had some writing, didn't know if it was any good, initially joined his local college's "creative writing classes" course and at the end of that had enough like minded people around him to form the writer's circle.
We'll have been going for 100 meetings next month! (and I'll have been going to almost 30 of them by then)

When you said "writers circle" I thought you meant the other writers on here Ive not had enough experience of writing to even be aware of the existance of "writing circles" although I would guess thats pretty much what "The inklings" was?
I dont think I could take up writing as a hobby, Its more of a "tool" for me. A way to bring together ideas and backstorys for other creations. I guess it comes from liking lord of the rings and star wars. I like things that have a history to them, a back story, a reason for being etc.
I like that story idea, quite unique. Theres millions who can relate to that character Im sure . That said I like escapism - sci fi or fantasy when reading. and Im sure I "ignore" many good books because of it. |

| Great stuff, Still like the way your stuff looks on the page as well as the way you get the story down in so few words. |

SO, with the youngest with potential Swine Flu and work's policy of "stay away" if you or a member of your family have flu like symptoms, it would appear that I've had time, under the heavy influence of a good single malt, to push out Part X (no idea how many words but it was written in a single stream of consciousness in about 40 minutes).
Hope its OK - don't know if whisky has the same +ve affect as cider appears to do. _________________ Life, the Ooniverse, Everything

Another excellent installment. Some intruiging new avenues opening up.
I particularly liked that last line.
It struck a chord for a reason that will hopefully come clear before too long |
